We visited a bookstore”Bibliotheca lizard” after reading his essay “ART OF SOUTHEAST ASIA UNDER JAPANESE OCCUPATION), 1942-45」(2013, Tetsugaku nenpō 72, 49- 72. / 2021, Bunka-cho Art Platform Japan),” which describes the influence of the Japanese military government on the history of modern art in various parts of Southeast Asia, as well as the layers of cultural exchange and conflict. On a rainy Fukuoka evening, we were able to sip on the warm coffee he gave us and hear about the reckless and brave young Ushiroshōji’s journey to Southeast Asia in the 1990s.
일본 군정이 남동아시아 각지의 현대 미술사에 미친 영향과 문화적 교류, 갈등의 층위를 서술한 우시로쇼지 선생님의 글 「일본 점령하의 남동아시아 예술(ART OF SOUTHEAST ASIA UNDER JAPANESE OCCUPATION), 1942-45」(2013, Tetsugaku nenpō 72, 49- 72. / 2021, Bunka-cho Art Platform Japan)을 계기로 도마뱀 서점을 방문하였다. 비 오는 후쿠오카의 저녁, 우리는 선생님이 내어주신 따뜻한 커피를 마시며 1990년대의 무모하고도 용감했던, 청년 우시로쇼지의 남동아시아로의 여정을 들을 수 있었다.
